I have not used the stove yet, but my first impression was it appears very robust and well crafted, however, the stove pipe appears very delicate and looks like it could be easily damaged, not as robust as the rest of the unit.. Like I stated, I have not used it yet so it may be fine.
Thank you Kevin for your review of our EGAN-MX2 Portable Camping Wood Stove System. We are glad to hear that you find our stove to be robust and well-crafted. We understand your concern about the stove pipe appearing delicate, but please rest assured that it is made of thin stainless steel sheet to keep the overall weight of the package low for portability purposes. However, it is still strong enough to do its job effectively. We highly recommend testing the stove for yourself to see its capabilities. Happy camping!
I recently purchased my first pop up ice fishing tent and decided to install a small wood stove. So far I'm extremely impressed with the Yukon Wolf stove and hot water heater. I set it up in my yard first to do a good burn to break it in, this is a must as the paint will smoke for about 15 minutes. I ran the fire about 30 minutes. The next time I used it in my 11 x 11 pop up tent. It worked really great and the paint did not smoke anymore. I am extremely happy with this stove and will recommend it to my friends. Thanks Darryl from Northern Ontario

Hi all, I’ve given this little stove a rating of 4. I haven’t had the opportunity to really put it to the test yet., but what I can tell you after doing the first burn is the following:
This little stove is really designed to burn efficiently and clean, you can see by the photos that no smoke or very little smoke leaves the chimney when the air vents and damper are set right. I like the design of the legs, it gives it a solid stance, however it could stand a little taller. The heat output is very good, I cooked 2 steaks at -15 degrees Celsius in no time. I love the window in the door, it’s both practical and beautiful. The flue pipes are a little thin but fit snugly together. I had difficulty getting a few pipes apart once cold but I found that spraying W40 in the joints made them slide right out. The water tank is nice and solid but fits too snuggly when around the flue position, making it hard to remove. I rectified that by grinding the tabs a bit at the bottom of the thank and now it slides out perfectly. Looking forward to really put it to the test, and update my review.
Happy Camper.
Thank you Happy Camper for the review. We really apprecite your feedback.
Here are some remarks regarding the points you mentioned in your review.
1) The legs are desinged to be simple and functional and also light weight. The height of the legs is limited by the fact that they need to be folded underneath the stove body.
2) The flue pipes are made of thin stainless steel for being light in weight and also to get hot/cold very quickly. So at the start of fire they get hot soon after the fire has been started creating the draft for efficient combustion. They also cool down quickly at the end. They are design to tight fit together. Normally they shoudn't have any problem when taking them apart. Please do not press the flue pipes together when stacking them.
3) When placing the water tank on the top surface positions, please do not push it too much forward (/or backward) to make it super firm in place. Allow it a little bit to be loose. That gives it room for possible thermal expantion.
If you have any questions pleaes contact us.
Happy Camping.
The following are my opinions & learnings of my newly purchased Egan-MX2 Portable Camp Stove. I have/labelled attached pics for relative comments areas
Conditions:
Location: Backyard test area (YW1 Back yard pre burn no tent yet)
OAT: near -3 deg C
Wood used: Xflame from Home hardware (YW5 Xflame Log). Left my power saw up in Northern Cabin. 500 Km away.
Installed in a 8 X 8 Clam Ice Fishing Tent (YW2 Stick kindling Initial Start)
Ice fishing tent after market chimney vent (YW6 Amazon Chimney Jack). So easy to install using solder gun , and little cutting of red silicone jack for chimney pipe. Jack performed well, not too hi temperature issues experienced during test.
Stove rear clearance to tent wall 14 inches. (Rear wall of tent insulated with 2 layer fire (welders)blanket , plus stove ground insulated same as tent wall.
Following rough times and stove temps incurred.
20 minutes: 306-400 degrees C (possibly higher) due no laser site on IR gun
25 minutes put water (SST) reservoir (full) facing towards back of stove.(YW7 Stove Perspective from Chair position)
40 minutes reservoir @ full boil (sorry not pics, have to take my word)
60 minutes of full burn, Full dampers (stove front door), with tent fresh combustion air provided via rear tent door slightly open(half way burn with Xflame log),
0 CO2 level, one Home Hardware X flame log used, almost turned to dust, inside temp based on ground to roof, about 33 degrees C, with outside temp of -3 degrees C.
Am I impressed, thus far, but still much more to test & learn with future usage. Below is the good & bad
Could not remove water reservoir from stove due to metal expansion. learning place reservoir on side of stove as opposed to top.
Stove wood loading/ via front door no issues but, very difficult for me, as you had to lie on ground to see into glass (YW4 Stove proximity to ground)
Further experience may alleviate this issue BUT I am looking @ safe alternative(s) leg extension design (or other) to raise stove further up off ground. This height issues seems common in the market for this size of stove. The welding blanket, was even starting to sure signs of heat distortion(chance in color, maybe to be expected) below the stove. As result, starting place snow between bottom of stove and welding blanket, just as precaution?
But, had nice comfortable view of fire in stove from Lawn chair. (YW7 Stove Perspective from Chair position) Just pain in you know what, to actually to see directly into burn chamber without having to lie on your belly.
But while on belly, extremely cool & pleasing to see the 2ndary burn happening, with both the glass & primary are vents closed. I took video of this,, but could not transfer from phone to laptop. You could actually see the flame coming out of the rear burn chamber holes, swirling, & flame making their way forward to the front of the stove, & swirling up to the rear over the past the stove rear chimney plate.
The stove is Not a "technically true" EPA secondary burn to my understanding, but suits it design purpose for this stove. I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY OTHER STOVE ON THE HOT STOVE MARKET THAT HAS THIS TRUE FEATURE, BUT WHAT DO I KNOW?
My understanding, wood gives off gases, such as H2, CH4, CO, CO2, H2O Vapor as natural process of combustion which in most stoves is exhausted up the chimney, but in a 2ndary burn principal, if the forementioned gases are mixed with sufficient quantities of prewarmed air, these gases will actually burn to create a further BTU transfer to the stove, rather than be emitted as exhaust. (i.e. clearer exhaust) Hence the EPA stove (environmental protection act design, found in house wood burning stoves).. With all said, less wood consumed with 2ndary burn vs stove without 2ndary burn.
My understanding built in Ontario, if so Yukonwolf, you have just made a proud Canadian that much more proud. Extremely competitive hot stove market out there, well done.
The purchase price was fantastic, the shipping cost to the west, no so great. But that is not new. Grumble, grumble, I used my Clam Ice fishing tent as an experiment with this stove, it passed with flying colors. I don't really care if the stove is not SST, this stove will outlast me if properly cared for.
1 hour burn time @ full air to Stove, 0 CO2 (readings in a very small area), not too hot on rear wall, little hot on bottom fire blanket, not great (hence need to be higher off ground).
I Could go on and on,,, don't be shy to buy one... but hopefully the above will help your decision. Sorry could only attach max of 5 pictures. Cheers
I really like it, it's solid, I've only done one burn in fire so far. The only thing I wish was that it was about 2 inches longer to fit slightly longer pieces. But I understand they want to keep the weight down to keep it portable (I'd buy and carry a larger one if that was an option). I like the thickness of the stove. I will be using it at the end of the month to go camping and it's still going to be cold out (Northern Ontario), so this should be a nice tool to keep us warm and cook off of.
Also the water tank is great.
And the customer service was really good, I ordered some extra pipes and they contacted me to figure out what I needed for a setup and corrected some of my pipes to make sure I have a safer setup.
Purchased these and one length of 3” pipe so I could go out the side window of hot tent. Worked great.
I ordered the stove and some extras on a Tuesday morning, everything was at my door step Thursday afternoon!
Awesome service
Great little stove! I purchased this unit for my otter insulated hub style tent for winter camping. Glad I went with this model, great quality and the water tank is a bonus, normally an extra charge from other brands. I purchased two 45’s and I straight pipe for going out the side window. Works great. I built a little 8” table for it to sit on.
Thank you Scott!
I bought EGAN camping wood stove last December with the regular pipe setup. It was good but I had creosote issue because intense rain weather and everyday stove usage, so I bought additional pipe adapter. I use adapter to turn pipes upside down to avoid creosote build up, as well I bought chimney rain cap and it's perfect now! All issues of rain weather are sorted and I would strongly recommend it! This little pipe part brought stove performance to the new level! Happy customer :)
Thank you for your review and sharing your experience. We really appreciate your support.
Great addition for the stove if your doing some hot tenting in colder weather. Worked great!
Thank you Greg!
My prospector wall tent has a side chimney hole for the stove pipe. I bought the 90 degree elbows. Shipped fast. Well made. A little pricey, but good quality. Package was well wrapped. Stove vents out the side now and works great.
Thank you Tom for your review and sharing your experience. We really appreciate your support.
I received the stove. Everything appears great. First off, a lot of care has been taken in the packaging. It's really well packaged. The stove itself is rugged. The metal is thick. I'm impressed with the quality. This is exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't looking for a backpacking type stove, I wanted something heavier and rugged. Super happy with it and I'm confident it will burn well whenever it is that I get a chance to fire it up. Also, I needed help with the checkout and the customer service was very good. I also added an elbow and a rain cap to the order. Overall I love this stove and I'm super happy I bought this one.
Cheers
Richard

I recently received the Egan camping wood stove, which arrived quickly. I have now had a chance to use the stove a number of times and it has proved to be excellent for my purposes. The stove is well made and all the accessories are great. I had a couple of questions after receiving the stove which were answered promptly, and a minor issue that the company helped resolve immediately. The service and helpfulness of the Yukon wolf team has definitely made a really good product, even better.
